Hear what parents have to say about their experience with HOB's Sunday School Ministry!

"I bring my grandson to House of Bread from time to time and he has a blast at Sunday School! He loves to learn and participate. He receives so much love from the members and really enjoys coming. It really means a lot to me, the warmth and care he receives when we're there."

R. Ennis, CPA, Ottawa

"The House of Bread is a beautiful growing church. It’s saturated with love and community. Both pastors always make sure to connect and pour love into each member. You are given an opportunity to dive deeper into your relationship with Christ and to support in self discovering what God’s purpose is in your life with the prayers and the support from the church."

I. Charles, Ottawa

"I love HOB's ministry for children. They have a great children's program that engages every child's curiosity for learning. Children are cared for every Sunday and nurtured in a safe environment. This children's ministry echoes what adults hear in church sermons in an aged appropriate way. Through crafts and songs, the children leave each Sunday inspired and longing for more. I watch the children after their time in Little Loaves, and they just can't wait for next week because of the fun learning experiences they've had that deepen their faith."

Little Loaves - A True Family Experience!

Families at House of Bread treasure the way we come together—starting the service united, then moving into spaces designed just for each age group.

You’ll worship alongside your child during the opening part of the service, sharing praise and fellowship.

Then, your little ones are lovingly dismissed to Little Loaves Sunday School in another area of the church, where they’ll enjoy age-appropriate Bible lessons, fun activities, and Christ-centered community.

At the same time, parents are free to enjoy the message and community, knowing their children are safe, inspired, and nurtured in an environment intentionally crafted for their growth.

Why It Matters...

Faith-based routines in early childhood education play a key role in a child’s spiritual, academic, and social growth. Research shows a child’s spiritual foundation forms in the first six years of life (Gillian, 2007). When children hear consistent Christian teachings at home, church, and school, their understanding of God deepens and they learn to live out those values.

Students in faith-based programs often perform a full year ahead academically compared to their peers (Council for American Private Education, 2020). This success comes from faith being part of many subjects and teaching that respects each child’s unique gifts and learning style.

Christian values also help children develop kindness, empathy, sharing, forgiveness, and emotional control (McKay, 2014; Holloway, 2006; Oswalt, 2021). When children learn these early, they feel safe, confident, and loved. For children facing challenges, trusting God and having faith-based support lowers anxiety and builds strength.

Those who teach children, especially in Sunday School, model kindness and compassion daily, helping kids grow in faith and character.

Q: What is the age range for Little Loaves?

Little Loaves is designed for children aged 4 to 11 years. If you have a child (or children) aged 12 or older, please feel free to reach out—we’re currently working on our Youth programming and will be sure to keep you informed with timely and helpful updates.

Q: What is the schedule and duration of Sunday School?

Little Loaves meets every Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for children ages 4–11. Families begin the service together at 2:00 pm, then children are gently dismissed downstairs for Sunday School activities at around 3 pm. The total time commitment for HOB's Sunday service is about 2 hours.

Q: Who is Little Loaves for? Is it multicultural and inclusive?

At the House of Bread, we welcome all families! We are a non‑denominational, multicultural church where children ages 4–11 from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to grow in faith, make friends, and explore Christian values in a safe, loving environment.

Q: How do I register my child?

You can register your child by filling out our Registration Form. You can register more than one child. Please complete one form per child. If you're registering more than one child, the information in Section 1 will be applied to all.

Q: How long is the service?

Services last about 2 hours. It's never dragged out. We aim to make your experience meaningful and engaging.

Q:Will snacks be provided?

Yes. We provide nut-free, healthy snacks and treats during the program. Please indicate any allergies or dietary restrictions on the registration form.

Q: What if my child is sick or needs to miss a class?

If your child is unwell or will be absent, please email us at hobintministries@gmail.com. This courtesy helps us plan ahead and manage resources effectively.
Register your child(ren) first for Little Loaves Sunday School. After that, we encourage you to complete our Plan Your Visit form. This form is for parents and guardians attending the worship service with their children and helps us prepare a smooth, welcoming experience for your whole family. If you’re just exploring the Little Loaves program and haven’t registered yet, you can complete both forms in any order.

Q:What is your policy on behavior, bullying, or inappropriate conduct?

We have a zero-tolerance policy for hitting, biting, bullying, or racial comments. All incidents are documented and addressed on a case-by-case basis, with appropriate follow-up. Our goal is to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all children.

Q: What if my child gets hurt or has an emergency?

Our staff will administer basic first aid (e.g. bandages, ice packs) and contact you immediately. If a serious illness or injury occurs, we will call emergency services and notify you right away. At Little Loaves, the children are well supervised and we provide a safe nurturing environment for children that provides peace of mind for parents.

Q: How do you manage pick-up, and who can pick up my child?

Only individuals listed on your child’s approved pick-up list will be allowed to pick them up. A photo ID may be required for verification.

Q: How do you keep children safe during Sunday School?

All staff and volunteers are assessed thoroughly. While we do not have enough staff at present to fully implement the two-adult rule, all children are taught together in one large, open room to ensure visibility and supervision. As our resources grow, we are committed to strengthening our safety practices.

Q: What is your policy on photographing or filming children?

Photos and videos may be taken during programs for internal use or promotional materials. If you prefer that your child not be photographed or filmed, please indicate this clearly in section 5 of the registration form.

Q: What personal items should my child bring?

We discourage children from bringing personal items to Sunday School, as all teaching materials are provided by the church. However, if they do bring any necessary items, please ensure they are clearly labeled and not used at all during the program, except in emergencies. We are not responsible for lost or unclaimed belongings.
We’d love your help! You can volunteer at House of Bread in several ways. To get started, contact us by email at hobintministries@gmail.com or fill out the volunteer interest form on our website on our Get Involved Page on the top menu. Someone from the team will follow up with details about our volunteering process and schedule.

Q: Is the facility accessible?

The worship space was designed with accesibility in mind with such features as ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms, automatic doors, handrails, accessible parking, wide doorways and corridors and more. Contact us if you have any additional questions.
