Sunday School Safety & Security Guidelines

At the House of Bread, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and secure environment for every child in our care. The following safety and security measures are in place to protect your child(ren):

Check-In & Check-Out

  • All children must be signed in and out by a parent or authorized guardian.

  • Only individuals listed on the child’s approved pick-up list will be allowed to check them out.

  • Photo ID may be required at pick-up.

Emergency Procedures

  • Emergency contact information must be current and will be used if immediate contact is needed.

  • In the event of a minor injury or illness, parents give permission for Little Loaves staff to provide basic first aid to their child(ren).

    • Basic first aid is limited to immediate care, such as cleaning minor cuts, applying bandages, and comforting your child as necessary.

  • Parents will be notified immediately of any incidents.

Staff & Volunteer Screening

  • All staff and volunteers undergo background checks.

  • No child will ever be left alone with a single adult — the two-adult rule applies at all times.

Health & Wellness

  • Children showing signs of illness (fever, vomiting, or contagious conditions) must stay home until symptom-free for at least 24 hours.

  • In case of serious illness or injury, emergency services will be contacted and the parent will be notified immediately.

Behavior Expectations & Discipline

We understand that children are children and learning how to interact with others; however, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for aggressive or inappropriate behavior, including:

  • Hitting, biting, or physical aggression

  • Bullying or verbal harassment

  • Racial, discriminatory, or exclusionary comments

What zero tolerance means in our program:

If any child engages in these behaviors, the program will respond firmly every time. These actions will not be ignored or minimized. Every incident will be taken seriously, documented, and addressed promptly to ensure a safe environment for all children.

Parents or guardians will be notified of any incident involving their child.

Consequences may include:

  • Verbal warnings and redirection

  • Parent meetings or written behavior reports

  • Temporary removal from the activity

  • Suspension from the program (for a set period)

  • Permanent dismissal from the program (in severe or repeated cases)

Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all children. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations at home.

Allergy & Snacks

We will provide snacks for the children during the program. Parents or guardians must indicate any food allergies or dietary restrictions on the registration form.

We will endeavor to provide nut-free, healthy snacks and treats to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.

Expectations for Attendance

We understand that occasional absences happen. However, if your child will not be attending on a scheduled day, we kindly ask that you notify us by email at hobintministries@gmail.com.

This courtesy helps us plan programming effectively and allocate resources to provide the best experience for all children.

Personal Belongings

  • Please label all personal items (e.g., bags, bottles, clothing).

  • We are not responsible for lost or unclaimed items.

Media & Privacy

  • Photos or videos may be taken during activities and events for internal use or promotional purposes.

  • If you do not consent to media use of your child’s image, please indicate this clearly during registration.

Our Commitment

Your child’s safety is our top priority. We take every precaution to ensure that they are cared for in a secure and loving environment.

If you have any questions or concerns about our safety policies, please contact us at hobintministries@gmail.com
